What is it?

Created by the National Observatory for Road Safety (ONSV), a non-profit in Brazil, YellowMay is an international movement to raise awareness of the importance of reducing road accidents. Transit must be safe for everyone in any situation.

Objective:

To introduce the subject of traffic to society. To encourage the participation of the population, businesses, governments and organizations.

Why May?

On May 11, 2011, the UN declared the Decade of Action for Road Safety. Since then, the month of May has become the global benchmark for the balance of the actions that the whole world holds in favor of Road Safety.


In May the international week for the Pedestrian Safety is celebrated, it was launched in 2013. Therefore, ONSV picked the month of May to launch this great movement.


Why yellow?


In Brazil where the movement was born, yellow is the color of attention and represents the warning sings in traffic.
